Feature List
Key Defacto functionality is listed below, however, please note that as Defacto is framework based, additional functionality can be created. So, if you can’t see the functionality you’re after – ask us, we may already have it in production!
Dashboard
As soon as you login, users can immediately see an overview of recent updates as well as short-cuts to common tasks. Users can also view web statistics from Google Analytics.
Live/Preview
Switch between viewing the live website and viewing unpublished updates, so you can see your proposed changes in situ.
Add
Quick access to adding any type of content straight from the main Defacto navigation bar.
Content Types
Defacto comes with several content types as standard, including pages (unstructured content), News, and Events (structured content). Each of these can be customised or new content types can be created.
Manage
Browse and search all content quickly, and then go straight through to a preview or edit screen.
Each type of content can be managed as a hierarchy, or a table listing with filters and search.
Workflow
Defacto’s workflow system gives varying permissions to different content editors. This ensures that the quality of your website can be maintained. Each piece of content can be drafted, reviewed, published, withdrawn and deleted.
Layouts
Choose from different layouts: two columns, three columns, hero image at the top, whatever you would like.
Combined with panels they provide an almost infinite variety of layouts and therefore flexibility to your website.
Panels
A panel is a box of content that can be added to any page, the beauty of Defacto is that you can create a library of panels. Panels can be static content (for example, contact information), dynamic (for example, a newsfeed), or multimedia (for example, YouTube videos). When you edit a panel it will automatically update on every page it is used.
Properties
The main editing screen for a page contains only what you need to publish. However, a user can click to the page properties to change hidden aspects, such as meta-data, associated images and many more.
Change Version
Version controls allow a user to roll back a page to a previous version, listed by date and time published. This can be very helpful if you accidently publish a page with a mistake on, or you are running offers on your website that have limited life spans.
WYSIWYG Editing
The WYSIWYG editor requires no coding knowledge. The interface uses MS Word style icons and controls to edit content to ensure ease of use. The WYSIWYG editor is also optimised for creating accessible content in keeping with your styles and branding.
Integration
Defacto is a modern platform, with integration options for many 3rd party websites and services. There are many possible variations in what is possible, so
contact us if you have specific integration questions.
Link and Navigation Management
The main navigation is created automatically as you add pages, and content such as news automatically creates date-based listings. Internal links are also managed in the content editor so that you can move internal pages without breaking links.
Help - In context
If you aren’t sure what something does, just select a nearby help icon to find out – there is no need to leave the interface.
A full manual is also provided and additional online, email and telephone support if needed.
Assets Library
Upload documents, images or multimedia content to pages on your website thought the assets library. You can even add assets as you are editing pages, such as embedding an image straight into the content whilst you are editing the page.
Comments
Enable comments on a page and your website visitors can then provide feedback. Comments are held for moderation and can be approved (or rejected!) from a central queue.
Website search
Google sets the standard for search, so we use Google to power website searches.
