To transform an outdated website with usability and accessibility issues which had hindered the success of the Postal Services Commission’s (Postcomm) online communications. A new website which represented the status of the organisation that provided the highest quality of customer experience was needed in time for market deregulation deadline.

Action

To ensure an intuitive and engaging customer experience, usability testing was conducted on the new website design to produce a new information architecture that supported user expectation.
An attractive graphic layout and template design was developed. Defacto was employed to provide the functionality and control for Postcomm to manage their website.

Results

The creation of a fully accessible and highly usable website using Defacto that allows total control of the website by the editorial team at Postcomm.
Since the launch, the website traffic has significantly increased. Comparing the number of unique site visits in December 2005 and February 2006 revealed a 56% increase, reflecting industry and media interest in Postcomm’s actions to regulate Royal Mail.
The new website has received much praise and positive feedback from customers. The website is constantly evolving with new functionality and design to provide the very best customer experience possible.
