“Since the launch of our new website with Defacto, we’ve been thrilled by the positive feedback we’ve received. People are recognising our brand and remarking positively about the website’s creative visual design.
Defacto has been a real revolution in content management for us as well. Finding such an accessible Content Management System has made the process of building a lively and informative website considerably easier than before”
Objective
BCAB is an organisation of visually impaired people who use Information and Communications Technology (ICT). They campaign for equal access to ICT for the visually impaired (VI).
BCAB approached Nomensa when looking to improve their visual design and use content management on their website. It was therefore imperative for Nomensa to develop an accessible and usable website on a system that could be accessed and updated by people with visual impairments.
Action
Nomensa produced carefully designed storyboards in line with BCAB’s existing branding whilst ensuring that they were well laid out and structured for people with visual impairments who may be using screen magnification software.
User friendly web templates were developed to Triple-A accessibility standard. These were then integrated into Defacto.
Results
The redesigned BCAB website is highly accessible and easy to navigate. Feedback has been positive and comments include the fact people can find things more easily and information has better structure.
More people are now willing to contribute to the site and write papers and articles and it has become a recognised hub for general news and information relating to VI people and computers.
