“APIG was extremely impressed with both Nomensa its content management system; Defacto. We were delighted with Nomensa’s design for the new APIG website and appreciative of the support and advice we received from their friendly and efficient staff. Despite not having specialist technical knowledge, we find Defacto straightforward and intuitive to use and are grateful for how easily it allows us to update the APIG website.”

Objective

All Party Parliamentary Internet Group Images from the APIG website

The existing All Parliamentary Internet Group (APIG) site was difficult to use, had complex information architecture and a dated visual appearance. It was also hard for the APIG web team to maintain, requiring the technical knowledge and training to update their content. The objectives of the project were to create a new look and feel for the APIG website, restructure the information and provide an easy to maintain and yet exemplary, accessible website.

Action

An assessment of the existing APIG website was conducted to determine the scope and nature of the existing content.

After a requirements workshop a new information architecture was developed; ensuring that content is easily and intuitively accessible. Using the existing APIG logo and brand values, Nomensa created a new look and feel which communicated APIG’s position as a cross-party discussion forum.

Accessible design templates were integrated into Defacto to allow the new APIG website consistency across all pages.

Nomensa then managed the process of migrating content from the old website to the new, ensuring a smooth and effective website launch.

Results

The result is a professional, dynamic website which matches APIG’s corporate identity whilst meeting stakeholder and user requirements.

The website now offers improved online services and an ongoing programme will ensure that the user experience is constantly evolved.
